Some critics even saw it as a nod to the "bad painting" era of the 1970s. But the real twist? A generative AI model created this fictional portrait. In October 2018, it fetched a staggering $432,000 at Christie's, marking the first time an artwork produced by an AI model sold for such a high price at auction.
